CCTV appeal after man suffers facial fractures in an attack in St Helens

It happened after two vehicles almost crashed near the McDonalds on St Helens Linkway

An investigation us underway after a man suffered facial fractures after being attacked in St Helens.

It happened on Scorecross Road at around 7.40pm on Friday 9th February.

It was reported that the victim was almost involved in a collision with a man who was driving a white Volkswagen Caddy as they were leaving McDonalds via Burtonhead Road on St Helens Linkway.

The man then followed the victim in a white Volkswagen transporter van across the roundabout on to Scorecross Lane.

When the victim stopped an argument ensued where he was hit twice by the man.

The victim suffered serious several fractures to his face which required hospital treatment after the incident.

CCTV enquiries were carried out in the area in a bid to identify the offender. Detectives have described the suspect as above 6ft 4 inches with a large muscley build.

The suspect had a bald round head, and a long wiry beard that was brown in colour.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses who saw the incident and has any dashcam footage

Detective Inspector Richard Shillito said: "This appears to have been a road rage incident which escalated into a violent attack on a man who suffered significant injuries his face.

“The incident happened on a Friday evening when people may have been going out, therefore I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack to think about what they may have seen as it could be vital.

“Similarly, if you have any dashcam or CCTV footage that could have captured the incident or the cars involved please check your systems and contact police if you have any evidence.

“Information from our community is vital if we are to stop people who cause such violence on our streets.”
