Data protection rules mean if an area reports fewer than 3 cases of COVID-19 then the number of cases is not released and is "suppressed".

These areas with the lowest rates were:

  • Abram & Bickershaw
  • Ashton in Makerfield
  • Aspull & Red Rock
  • Hindley West
  • Lowton
  • Orrell & Longshaw
  • Standish South
  • Upholland

It comes as Wigan's overall infection rate is now the lowest it's been since the 15th of September last year.

The latest data for Wednesday 31st March show for every 100,000 people across the borough, 67 are infected, which's down from a high of 501 in the January peak.

Vaccination across Wigan are also continuing at pace with almost two-thirds of those eligible now having had at least one dose of the vaccine.

Of the 266,900 adults who live in the borough, so far 167,691 people now have had their first dose.

The latest data from the NHS also shows that more than 80% of the over 50's have now also had their first dose of the Jab.

Meanwhile, the situation in our region's hospitals has remained stable over the past few days with 19 people currently in hospital with the virus across Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

That's down from a record high of 163 patients last November.
