Wigan man jailed after crashing into fair and seriously injuring woman

A Wigan man who led police through a car chase, before crashing into a fare and injuring two people, has been jailed.

Jordan O'Reilly, from Platt Bridge, has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, perverting the course of justice and failing to provide a specimen.

In October 2023, O'Reilly failed to stop for police and let them on a chase through the down. He drove exceeding the speed limit, and then tried to abandon his vehicle to escape.

In doing so he allowed the vehicle to continue on and collide with a family funfair, leaving two people injured. One woman sustained serious injuries.

PC Wood, of GMP Transport Unit, said: “O’Reilly’s disregard to his driving disqualification and actions behind the wheel that day were reckless and dangerous and he put countless people at risk of harm,

"The injuries caused to the victim show the consequences dangerous driving has on other people."
