An attempted theft of moped occurred in Upper Poppleton, York last week, with those involved chased out of the village.

Last Thursday three suspects went to a residential address on Station Road close to the railway crossing, and attempted to steal a moped.

They failed to steal it but did damage it in the process.

Police say they "then returned for a second attempt at around 7.30pm the next day but the moped had been moved. They were chased off through the village and towards the A59."

North Yorkshire Police stated: "In particular police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this group in the area around this time to get in touch using the details below.

All three suspects were described as young males wearing dark clothing, with two of them being around 6ft in height and the third a little shorter."
