Whitby man jailed after assaulting six police officers following arrest

A man has been jailed for eight months after admitting to attacking six police officers after he was arrested at a restaurant in Whitby.

Lee Brown entered the restaurnt in New Quay Road on January 13, where he took food from behind the counter, before using threatening language.

The 33-year-old was arrested, and then spat at officers who were carrying out checks on him during his time in custody.

He was charged with theft of food, using threatening and abusive laguage and six counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

Brown pleaded guilty to the charges and has been handed a 32 week prison sentence by a judge.
