Man arrested in connection with Co-Op robbery in Sherburn in Elmet

A Leeds man was arrested at Manchester Airport in connection with the robbery at the food shop in Sherburn in Elmet.

Detectives investigating a cash-in-transit robbery at Sherburn in Elmet have made an arrest.

The robbery occurred at the Co-op store on Finkle Hill on Friday 21 August. It was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 8.18am.

Two men wearing balaclavas and carrying knives approached security staff before they made off in a white vehicle with a large amount of money.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Extensive enquiries have been ongoing to identify those involved.

A 25-year-old man from Leeds was arrested on Monday evening at Manchester Airport, but he was released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.

The appeal for witnesses and information about the incident is ongoing, including any dash-cam footage from passing motorists.
