Three men are in custody after dangerous driving in York.

In a tweet Sergeant Paul Cording confirmed that the vehicle initially failed to stop for police, before driving the wrong way down the A64.

Operation units were able to tag the car and end the pursuit safely at Askham Bar.

Sergeant Paul Cording from North Yorkshire Police also said: "The driver, although just under the drink drive limit, had tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine and remains in custody.

"He has shown a complete disregard for the safety of other road users with the manner of his driving, and will be dealt with when fit".
