84 year old woman dies after being knocked down by lorry in Northallerton

It happened on Brompton Road at around midday on Friday.

A 84 year old woman has died after being hit by a lorry in Northallerton on Friday lunchtime.

It happened on Brompton Road, near Kwik Fit, at around 12 noon.

The woman, who was from Stokesley, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and are receiving specialist support from the police following the tragedy.

Officers say she will not be formally identified at this stage.

The driver of the blue Scania lorry, a man aged in his 50s from the Richmond area, is assisting police with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the vehicle prior to the collision, is asked to contact police.
