Emergency services in Filey are looking to strengthen their relationships with people in the town today.

North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Coastguard, Yorkshire Ambulance and Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be at Filey Sports Field from 11am until 4pm.

The free event will have live displays, demonstrations and there is a chance for children and their families to get up close and personal with vehicles and equipment.

Sergeant Vicky Quigley of Filey Neighbourhood Police, said:

“There will be so much for people to do and most importantly it won’t break the bank as entry is free.

“This year’s event looks as if it is going to be even better than last year and we are expecting exceed over 4,000 visitors. The interest that is already being shown by exhibitors and the public reaction has been overwhelming.

“All ages will also experience all the fun of the fair with the expansion of the event to include roundabouts, a buzz bomb and miniature train rides. Not to mention lots to eat and drink."

The Institute of Advanced Motorists will also be there to provide advice to young motorists and to those under the age of 17.

The advisers will offer first-hand accounts from the emergency services exposing the risks and dangers of driving and give advice on driving experience courses.

Police volunteer and event co-ordinator, Allan Skilbeck, said: "Many young people learn to drive as soon as they are old enough to do so. Passing your driving test is a great feeling, but it is not a licence to drive as you please.

“When you get behind the wheel of a car you are not only responsible for your own safety, but the safety of your passengers and other road users. That is a responsibility you need to take seriously.”
