The MP for Filey has been reacting to the latest national lockdown.

Kevin Hollinrake says he expects North Yorkshire to end up in Tier 2 next month.

He says it's been hard for businesses although some in hospitality have had a good year.

Kevin said:

"It's not easy. Don't get me wrong but as well as things being very tough, a lot of businesses have actually done very well this year. A lot of have done very badly but lots have done very well, including hospitality. I obviously represent Filey and I know that some businesses, including some of the wonderful fish and chip shops we have there have had a bumper year."

"I think what the Prime Minister said is that he hopes to go back into the Tier situation in February, so this is after February half term. So hopefully we'll return to tiers and a lot will depend on the rate of infection locally.

"I think there's a very good chance that our Tier may be Tier 2 or something in some time at the end of February, but restrictions will be maintained at that point in time. I think both the Prime Minister and Michael Gove, who I work for, would say the same thing.

"What I think the Prime Minister and everybody wants to see, is a complete relaxation of any restrictions and I think we can probably look forward to that hopefully at the end of March, middle of April where we can simply say 'we've got enough people inoculated now to mean we don't need anymore restrictions at all."
