The MP for Filey says he is optimistic the next stage on the roadmap out of lockdown will happen as planned.

Indoor hospitality is scheduled to re-open on May the 17th.

Kevin Hollinrake said:

"It's been a huge relief I think to see good weather, queues outside shops, queues outside restaurants and you can't get a table hardly anywhere on the key nights in the week. The pubs, restaurants and shops that I speak to are very pleased how things have started.

"We've been much more careful these days about our borders which is a good thing, obviously India's been added to the red list. We've got much greater expertise in terms of tracking down different strains, putting measures in place to stop the proliferation of new strains.

"I'm pretty optimistic that May the 17th we will get to the next place where indoor hospitality is allowed and we can have larger gatherings which is great, so we need to be vigilant. Some restrictions will be required for some time and the direction of travel is looking really, really positive.

"Obviously we're learning more and more about the virus all the time. I think the evidence seems to show that the real danger is in indoor settings. It's really more about the aerosol effect where stuff is hanging in the air for hours in indoor settings, which is why we've had to be more careful in indoor settings in terms of hospitality."
