We are hearing more people than ever in Hull and East Yorkshire have been using foodbanks this year.

It has come at a time where people have been struggling financially due to the pandemic and universal credit.

Andy Coish is from Hull and East Yorkshire Citizens Advice and said: "We've seen a worrying increase again towards the back end of this year. People became quite dependent upon foodbanks and a lot of local foodbanks have sprung up and have done amazing things, but I think around the network both us locally and other foodbanks have seen an increase again.

"It's a bleak picture at the moment because of the inflation situation, the cost of living and the natural cycle that people tend to struggle as any debt accumulates over the year.

"It's really going to come home to roost in the early part of the New Year as that's a fairly normal cycle for us but I think it's going to exacerbated by the underlying financial situation this year and the underlying increased costs on inflation."
