Latest Coronavirus figures in Hull and East Riding

A further 412 people were diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire yesterday (Wednesday, December 22).

The Government’s latest rolling figures show the number of infections recorded across the region was 1,414 for Hull and 1,784 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Friday, December 17, the latest with weekly data available.

At least five cases linked to the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the East Riding, with an unknown number of suspected ones from Hull currently being tested, according to both councils’ public health teams.

The local figures come as a total of 106,122 coronavirus cases were recorded nationally today, the highest since the pandemic began and the first time daily reported cases have surpassed 100,000.

A further 140 deaths have been announced across the country today, with the number of those in hospital totalling 8,008, the highest amount since late November.

In intensive care: three (+1 from Tuesday, December 21)

Kingswood (1,150.8 cases per 100,000 people)

Bransholme West (967.9 cases per 100,000 people)

Cottingham East (868.2 cases per 100,000 people)

The local areas with the lowest Covid rates are:

Bridlington Central (150.6 cases per 100,000 people)

Hull City Centre (240.2 cases per 100,000 people)

Bridlington North and Bempton (264.2 cases per 100,000 people)

Covid death breakdown for each area

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.:

Hull: 740 (no change, up five weekly to Friday, December 10, 813 with coronavirus on death certificate)

East Riding of Yorkshire: 881 (no change, up seven weekly to Friday, December 10, 1,006 with coronavirus on death certificate)

Vaccinations:

Government data up to Tuesday, December 21 shows that in the UK, 129,579,569 jabs have been given so far, 51,577,782 first doses, 47,156,899 second doses and 30,844,888 boosters.

The local data shows:

Hull: First dose 186,703 (76.7 per cent), second dose 169,428 (69.6 per cent), booster 104,917 (43.1 per cent)

East Riding: First dose 280,741 (89.1 per cent), second dose 263,284 (83.6 per cent), booster 189,966 (60.3 per cent)
