Latest Covid figures for Hull and East Riding

The statistics are up-to-date as of yesterday.

A further 603 people were diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire yesterday (Thursday, December 23).

The Government’s latest rolling figures the number of infections recorded across the region was 1,435 for Hull and 1,847 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Saturday, December 18, the latest with weekly data available.

At least 147 cases linked to the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the East Riding, with an unknown number of suspected ones from Hull currently being tested, according to both councils’ public health teams.

The figures come as senior NHS officials warned there had been in sharp rise in staff of,f due to coronavirus, reaching 38 per cent today.

East Riding Council’s Public Health Director, Andy Kingdom, said absences were one of the main worries as the area braces for an Omicron surge, pressuring already strained hospitals even further.

Hull: 50,151 (+273)

East Riding of Yorkshire: 55,731 (+330)

Kingswood (1,132.2 cases per 100,000 people)

Cherry Burton, Leconfield and Middleton (890.5 cases per 100,000 people)

The local areas with the lowest Covid rates are:

Bridlington Central (200.8 cases per 100,000 people)

Hull City Centre (250.2 cases per 100,000 people)

Bridlington North and Bempton (264.2 cases per 100,000 people)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.

Hull: 740 (no change, up five weekly to Friday, December 10, 813 with coronavirus on death certificate)

East Riding of Yorkshire: 882 (+ one from Wednesday, December 22, up seven weekly to Friday, December 10, 1,006 with coronavirus on death certificate)

Government data up to Wednesday, December 22 shows that in the UK, 130,512,070 jabs have been given so far, 51,617,091 first doses, 47,210,053 second doses and 31,684,926 boosters.

Hull: First dose 186,836 (76.8 per cent), second dose 169,596 (69.7 per cent), booster 107,717 (44.3 per cent)

East Riding: First dose 280,927 (89.2 per cent), second dose 263,557 (83.7 per cent), booster 194,721 (61.8 per cent)
