More businesses on the Yorkshire Coast have announced that they are closing due to Coronavirus scares.

It comes after three businesses in the last week, The Hare and Hounds in Hawsker, Bothams' Enterprise Way branch in Whitby and the Halifax bank branch in Scarborough, said they had to shut as a precaution. Some of those are set to re-open.

Today businesses in Whitby and Bridlington have informed customers of their closures:

Rusty Shears in Whitby posted this on their Facebook page:

"Due to the COVID-19 spike which is sweeping through the area and in common with several other restaurants in Whitby, we are closing our doors and will be asking all staff to take a COVID test should any develop symptoms.

"We would like to stress that at this time, no one at Rusty Shears has tested positive for the virus or is showing symptoms but we feel it is best that we pause trading for the time being.

"Once we are confident that it is safe for our staff and customers, then we will reopen.

"We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Please stay safe.

"The Rusty Shears team."
