Scarborough College says parents, guests, staff and students are still reeling from excitement of the first large scale social event on its campus since the easing of social distancing measures.

It held 'Gig on the Green' which is a new initiative from the Performing Arts Department, intended to showcase the 'best of the best' of their drama and music students.

Around 500 people attended the celebration on Friday evening with entertainment provided by the College’s LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) and Music students. An eclectic mix of styles from musical theatre, rock and pop, public speaking and monologues/duologues featured and the College says they were warmly received by the audience.

Following the student entertainment, live music was provided by local band The Mixtapes.

The weather held out and refreshments were provided by the College Catering team along with Tonics Bar, Embers pizzas, Louise’s Ice Cream & Kinky Donuts and Scarborough Creperie.

It is hoped that this will become an annual event on the calendar and will be opened to the public in the future.
