'Serious collision' near Whitby

North Yorkshire Police say they are at the scene of a serious collision near Whitby.

Officers say the A171 Whitby road at the Ruswarp turn off is closed for traffic heading northbound.

There is also a closure at the Robin Hood's Bay turn off to drivers heading south.

Diversions will be in place but people are being asked to avoid the area.
