Thirsk, Malton and Filey MP 'delighted' Rishi Sunak will be next Prime Minister
Kevin Hollinarke says he supported him from the outset
The MP for Thirsk, Malton and Filey says he is "absolutely delighted" Rishi Sunak will be our next Prime Minister.
He has released a statement after Rishi, a fellow MP in North Yorkshire in the Richmond constituency, won the Conservative leadership contest.
His rival Penny Mordaunt pulled out moments before an announcement to reveal how many MPs had backed each candidate.
Kevin Hollinrake said: "I am absolutely delighted Rishi Sunak will be our next Prime Minister. Having seen first-hand his calm, competent and professional leadership in the second toughest job in politics, in my mind he is absolutely the right person to lead our country through this difficult time and restore economic and political stability and to unite the party.
"I have supported him from the outset and look forward to continuing to do so now that he has become the UK’s first Prime Minister to represent a Yorkshire constituency."
