Organisers of Whitby Regatta are looking for more volunteers to help out at this year's event.

It's been being held for more than 180 years and is taking place on the weekend of Saturday the 13th to Monday the 15th August.

Volunteers would be assisting marshals over a range of activities - like tombola, competitions, parades, setting up areas and guiding the public.

Whitby Regatta's Vice-Chairman, Mike Nightingale, said:

"We're also looking for people for the future. Because we only get three days, it takes a few years before people really get the hang of what needs to be done over that weekend.

"It gives a sense of pride, accomplishment, knowing that you're doing some good. You know that you are one of the key people who're keeping this going. Things like this will only keep going if there are people who're willing to give time making things happen in real life."
