The Town Mayor of Whitby, Councillor Linda Wild, is calling for local children to take part in designing a Christmas card to send to local organisations, other Yorkshire Mayors and the town’s international Twin Towns and ‘Sister Cities’.

Launching the competition, Linda said:

“As mayor, I will be sending 200 cards this year to deliver the town’s Christmas best wishes and to keep Whitby at the heart of people’s seasonal celebrations.

“I would like to invite local children to enter the Mayoral Design a Christmas Card competition. The winning design will be used as the Mayoral Christmas card, to be sent out to civic dignitaries across the world. The theme this year is “Festive Whitby”.

Copies of the application form for designing the Mayoral Christmas card can be downloaded from the Town Council’s website.

Entries should be delivered to Pannett Art Gallery by Tuesday 3 November 2020.

The competition is open to local children aged 16 and under.

The individual winner will receive a £10 book token and if the design is submitted by a school then the school will win a £50 book token.

All the designs may also be used to promote the festive season in Whitby.
