Pop star Dua Lipa has left thousands of her fans confused after she took to Twitter with some very British slang. The 'New Rules' singer tweeted, 'I’m gonna post this and pretend im not hungover and in a chish and fips food coma'. sic

Whilst many of her British fans will know that 'chish and fips' is slang for fish and chips, many other fans from abroad were left very confused. Taking to Twitter to respond to the singer they asked, 'what’s a chish and fip' sic and 'me: google's up chish and fips'. sic

Another fan tweeted, 'Fips? Fish¿', whilst a further fan said, 'chish and fips??? oh my god ur mind' sic.

And it seems that it isn't just Dua Lipa's fans who are confused by some British slang. Earlier this year we caught up with 'Havana' singer Camila Cabello and tested her knowledge of British slang. heat radio's Entertainment reporter Lucy asked her if she knows the meaning of words such as the 'boot' of the car, 'fortnight' and 'peckish'.

You might be surprised at some of her answers!

Both Dua Lipa and Camila Cabello have been hugely successful this year. Whilst Dua won two BRIT Awards this year, for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act Award, Camila Cabello has celebrated having a number on album around the world.

Dua recently dropped 'One Kiss', a collaboration with Calvin Harris which has hit the top spot in the UK. Although the pair have yet to release the official music video, the lyric video was released recently and you can watch it below.

Recently Dua revealed the inspiration behind songs on her second album, speaking to GQ magazine the BRIT Award winning singer said, “It’s very much dance crying. It is a pop album that you’re going to be able to dance to, but a lot of the songs are sad."

She went on to explain, "They’re about heartbreak and they’re about going through some emotional manipulation. It kind of sucks that that’s the thing that really triggers my creativity, but happy things don’t seem to do it for me.

“Now I feel it’s a proper story. It’s all relevant to one idea."
