He's not long returned to the soap following a 15 year absence, but actor Gary Lucy is set to leave Hollyoaks for a temporary basis to focus on his other work commitments.

The popular actor, who plays the role of Luke Morgan in the Channel 4 soap, is reportedly set to take a break from show so he can play a part in 'The Full Monty Tour', which is set to take place across the UK and Ireland later in the year.

WARNING: THE BELOW ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Although nothing has been confirmed by Hollyoaks bosses just yet, a show insider revealed Gary will begin his nine month break off the back of a upcoming storyline involving his cheating girlfriend Mandy Richardson.

It's currently a busy time for Gary's character Luke, not only has he overcome his drinking problem, he was also reunited with his son Ollie and is gearing up to marry Mandy for the second time (the first one didn't quite go to plan in January).

However, as the wedding scenes are set to air next week, Mandy will have a major decision to make following her affair with Luke's best friend Darren Osbourne.

Just as Mandy is about to jet off to America with Luke, her daughter Ella and her stepson Ollie, Darren begs her to stay, despite him being married to Nancy who is suffering with MS.

And whilst Mandy initially ends things with Darren to pursue a future with Luke, she later discovers an empty vodka bottle leading her to believe that Luke could be drinking again.

With the scenes set to air on Hollyoaks next week, fans will have to wait and see what the outcome is for Luke and Mandy.

Meanwhile, Gary will embark The Full Monty's final tour this year, with the production opening in September.

Gary will lead the cast made up of Andrew Dunn (Dinnerladies), Louis Emerick (Benidorm), Joe Gill (Emmerdale), Kai Owen (Torchwood) and James Redmond (Hollyoaks), with more to be announced in due course.

Hollyoaks continues on Channel 4 weekdays at 6.30pm, with the first look programme on E4 at 7pm.
