It's been a crazy few days in the world of celebrity romances, not only were Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid spotted looking very much ON, EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa and her husband Dan Osborne split, and then rumours emerged that Love Island's Gabby Allen had dumped Marcel Somerville following allegations that he'd cheated on her.

And after Liverpudlian Gabby broke her silence on the rumours this morning (Wednesday 2nd May), Marcel has now released a statement via his rep, seemingly admitting to cheating on his girlfriend.

Marcel's rep told OK! Magazine, "Sadly the rumours are true, Gabby and Marcel have split up. Marcel can't really defend his actions as he knows he did wrong and will regret it forever."

It then continued, "Marcel is upset that he broke the heart of someone he loves and someone that he shared so many special moments with, but with all the good times there are difficult times, and sadly Marcel and Gabby had been in a bad place at this stage.

"Gabby was a special part of Marcel's life, and he hopes one day she can find it in herself to forgive him. He knows what he did was wrong and is extremely sad about how he has hurt Gabby."

It comes after Gabby thanked her fans earlier today after admitting she was still 'in shock'. She wrote, 'Thank you to everyone for your kind messages, love and support. It's been a tough couple of days, i think i might be in a bit of shock! But i'm sure in time i will be ok. i have the best family and friends around me. I'm a lucky girl.' sic

News of Marcel's apparent infidelity first broke earlier this week when the girl in question supposedly showed Gabby text messages from the former Blazin' Squad singer.

According to reports, Marcel was asking the girl to meet up whilst the couple were on holiday together in Mexico in February this year. Gabby has since deleted all photos of Marcel from her Instagram page, including the ones from that holiday.

Now see what all of the other Love Island 2017 stars are up to now:

Kem Cetinay

Kem won the 2017 series of Love Island with Amber Davies, but after a six-month romance outside of the villa, the pair split.

Despite his love life not working out, winning Love Island acted as a major platform for Kem. Not only did he get his own TV show alongside Chris Hughes, the pair also released a single called 'Little Bit Leave It', gaining them a record deal.

As well as appearing in a number of promotions, Kem also took part in the 2018 series of Dancing On Ice, making it all the way to the semi-final. He has since just completed the Dancing On Ice tour around the UK.

With just one month to go until the brand new series of Love Island hits ITV2, only two couples from the 2017 series remain together.

Despite keeping their relationship relatively private, Camilla Thurlow and model Jamie Jewitt remain together, as well as Jess Shears and Dom Lever, who are in the process of planning their real wedding after a fake one live on Good Morning Britain earlier this year.
