Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have reportedly split after being in an on-off relationship since 2010. Singer Miley and actor Liam met on the set of The Last Song in which they played a romantic couple, and later became engaged in 2012.

After splitting in 2013, the Hannah Montana star and Hunger Games actor got back together in 2016 and announced that the engagement was back on in 2016 - but, sources close to the couple revealed that the couple have "split and called off their wedding" in July 2018.

According to OK! Australia, an insider revealed that 28-year-old Liam is ready to settle down and think about children - but 25-year-old Miley isn't ready yet, saying, "He wants kids and doesn't want to keep putting it off but it's not quite the timeline Miley had in mind. He is left heartbroken.

"Miley put off plans for the wedding and Liam was growing tired of it... They haven't been getting along in recent months."

They added that Miley "didn't really want to get married," and that "everyone else" has seen the split coming for a while apart from Liam. Apparently, his family had been "begging him to see the light" but he "had faith in Miley" and now "feels like an idiot."

Shortly after the rumours, Miley deleted everything from her Instagram profile, which many took to mean that the sad news was true.

Miley revealed in an interview last year that marriage and babies aren't in her immediate future, saying, "I don’t envision marriage. I’m 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do."

Miley and Liam have been in an on-off relationship since meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2010. They were teenage sweethearts for two years, becoming engaged in 2012 - Miley and Liam called off their engagement in 2013. After rekindling their romance in 2016, Miley announced that the engagement was back on in October 2016 and they got married in December 2018.

Miley performed at the MTV VMAs 2019 on Monday 26th Aug in New Jersey. The 26-year-old took to the stage at the Prudential Centre to perform 'Slide Away', which is believed to be about the split - and it was the first time Miley had performed the new single.

Miley was also up for Best Power Anthem and Song of Summer with her brand new track 'Mother's Daughter', but sadly lost out on both to Megan Thee Stallion and her friend Ariana Grande respectively.

Some of the lyrics include: 'So won't you slide away/Back to the ocean, I'll go back to the city lights', and: 'Move on, we're not 17/I'm not who I used to be/You say that everything changed You're right, we're grown now.'

'They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.'

Liam also released a separate statement on Instagram which read, 'Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.
