They were the new couple on the block earlier in the year, but after just three months of dating Little Mix star Jesy Nelson split with The Only Way Is Essex's Chris Clark.

After speculation by fans that Chris was only dating Jesy for the 'fame', the reality star has now spoken out and revealed the real reason why he thinks it didn't work out between the pair.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Chris revealed the pair actually met through Instagram when he was shocked to find Jesy had liked one of his pictures.

However despite enjoying a three month romance, Chris revealed their relationship came at a 'bad time' due to Jesy and the rest of the Little Mix girls touring America at the time. He said, "Our relationship came at a difficult time, because the band were touring America, so we mostly spoke on the phone. She was only in my life for about three months."

He then added, "I didn’t understand why she was interested in me – I’m just someone from TOWIE. I always felt like second best to Jesy. But that was my issue, not hers.”

Earlier in the month it was confirmed by Chris's friend and fellow TOWIE co-star Myles Barnett that Chris ended the short lived relationship over the phone, leading Little Mix fans to send the 22-year-old some abuse online.

Speaking to the magazine, Chris pleaded that he didn't use Jesy and that the pair ended as friends. He said, "I’ve been trolled and it’s been tough. Jesy and I ended on good terms, I didn’t use her."

The TOWIE star is now dating Amber Dowding, who he'd been in a six-month relationship with back in 2016.

It was confirmed during an episode of TOWIE that the pair had rekindled their romance, with Chris admitting he 'learnt a lot' in the time they weren't together.

Speaking about his relationship with Amber, he said, "We’ve both seen other people but we’ve realised we’re happiest together. We’re stronger than ever."

Meanwhile Jesy and the rest of the Little Mix are super busy preparing for their 'Summer Shout Out' tour, before they embark on their mammoth 'The Glory Days' tour later in the year.

The girls delighted fans last week when they dropped their brand new single 'Power' with rapper Stormzy.

Taking to their socials to announce the news, the band released the single artwork, which was drawn by a fan, and later released the single last Friday.

The girls are yet to drop the official video for the new track, but did tease fans with a few stills on Instagram.

'Power' is available to download now.
