At the Rovers everyone gathers round to listen to the pre-recorded show, and they're all happy to donate some money to Chesney and Gemma's baby/marriage fund.

As Chesney tells Gemma he's never stopped loving her and leans in for a kiss, they're interrupted by Gemma's mum, Bernie, who announces that she's about to be made homeless and needs some money.

Chesney is appalled when Gemma offers her mum the money from the charity collection, and when Paul turns up to find his mum in Weatherfield he's furious too, telling Gemma it will all end in tears.

In order to make a better impression on Gemma's mum, Chesney offers her his room at No.5 and prepares to sleep on the sofa – but things quickly turn weird when Bernie makes a move and suggests sharing the bed.

When Chesney tells Gemma about it, Bernie lies and says she can't live with Chesney as he clearly has the hots for her. Gemma decides to move back in as she doesn't know who to believe.
