Heartstopper has quickly become one of the most popular TV shows around on Netflix at the moment, so it's no surprise that the cast are hot property. After Joe Locke and Kit Connor recently dropped in to see us and, Kit told us why his character Nick Nelson is extremely special to him, the pair appeared at the BAFTA TV Awards.

Speaking to the press about his ideal casting for season two (if there is one), Joe Locke, who plays Charlie in the hit show, admitted it had to be Jennifer Coolidge! Jennifer is best known for her roles in American Pie, Legally Blonde and of course THAT 'Hi' video.

Jennifer Coolidge

"I want Jennifer Coolidge to be my cool grandma, my cool American grandma," Joe told the gathered press: "That would be quite cool." The actor went on to say: "Kit got Olivia Colman, I want Jennifer Coolidge."

Olivia plays the role of Sarah Nelson, Nick's supportive mum, and is best-known for her award winning roles in The Crown and The Night Manager.

And it's not the first time Joe has spoken about Jennifer. When Joe and Kit popped in to see us at Hits Radio Pride, Joe picked up the tweet of a photo of him saying: 'jennifer coolidge in that one video'.

Although Kit seemed a bit baffled by it, Joe knew exactly what it was about, even recreating her iconic 'Hi' from the 8-second video.

Heartstopper has not yet been confirmed to be having a second season, but following the success of the first, which starred Kit Connor and Joe Locke alongside Olivia Colman, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, William Gao and Yasmin Finney.
