To mark LGBTQ+ History Month, we've gone Behind The Mask of a trans-woman during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Marta Boczarski, from Suffolk, is currently waiting for a date to begin her transition process, but Covid-19 has resulted in delays.

She said it's had an impact on her mental health: "I have to be stuck in my male body which is the first reason. The second is I cannot get any further with my steps to finally be settled with the gender identity I want when I get the treatment of hormones, to then change my name by deed poll."

Marta has made the most of the delays though in preparing for her transition by taking steps like growing her hair.

Throughout the pandemic, she has developed the confidence to wear the clothes she's always wanted to, especially in the summer.

She says it made her feel herself and is encouraging other members of the LGBTQ+ community to do the same.

Marta added: "Do what you want to do, follow your steps as normal. I know it's really hard to survive and to think about everything being delayed.

"Every single person, whether they are LGBTQ+ or heterosexual, we are all in the same boat, having to survive day to day for a better future."

Research from Suffolk Mind indicates non-binary people are one of the worst affected groups for meeting their emotional needs during the pandemic.

To mark LGBTQ+ History Month, the charity has launched two free counselling sessions explaining how people can meet their emotional needs and the importance of sleep.
