Four people charged with human trafficking in Birmingham

Four people have been charged with human trafficking after a series of raids earlier this week at properties in Birmingham.

It comes amid an investigation by West Midlands Police's Major Crime Unit - in which warrants were carried out at three addresses in Birmingham on 1 May, where two men and two women were arrested.

The four people - Daoying Tang, Degang Wei, Lin Qing and Lech Kossowski - were all charged with controlling prostitution for gain, and remanded in custody.

All four appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday (3 May) and have been remanded until their next court appearance.

A number of vulnerable sex workers were encountered and safeguarded during the enforcement with the assistance of the police's exploitation team and Women's Aid.
