Operation Outpatients Update

A Ground Breaking Event with Mike & Chelsea!

In 2013 the Starlight Children’s Outpatients Department at Wythenshawe (USHM) Hospital were the beneficiaries of our annual Cash for Kids Day appeal.

Key 103 set a huge fundraising target of £100,000 in an attempt to raise enough funds to transform the run-down concrete wasteland into a green calming oasis for the 8,000 children that visit the outpatients department. “Operation Outpatients” was officially underway.

On Friday 26th April 2013, Manchester took the appeal by storm as local schools and businesses went above and beyond to raise money for the fantastic cause. Cake sales, dress down days and fun fundraising activities were carried out across the city. The Key 103 team visited a selection of our dedicated supporters across Manchester. Shane Ward and Georgia May Foote dropped by a number of schools in a helicopter to visit the fantastic children that were supporting children less fortunate than themselves. The campaign was a huge success, smashing the target of £100,000.

Mike and Chelsea re-visited the Starlight Ward one year on as work on the court yard officially began. The transformation should take just 12 weeks with work on the area set to be complete by the start of September. Soon the yard will be a tranquil and relaxing place for the brave children of the Starlight Outpatients Ward to enjoy.
