Halloween is done, which means that Christmas must be right around the corner right?

It certainly is in Manchester where the Christmas lights have been switched on in front of a huge crowd

Hits Radio and Manchester Council hosted the event that saw Max George and Jonas Blue perform in front of thousands of festive Mancunians.

Jonas Blue helped Hits Radio presenter Mike Toolan and Kelly Pegg press the button to illuminate the city.

The crowd was showered with confetti and rewarded with a spectacular ten-minute fireworks show over the beautiful and historic town hall.

This is the last year that the event will be in Albert's Square for the foreseeable future as the town hall itself is about to undergo a huge renovation.
