How to stop your iPhone from breaking in cold conditions

As the temperature drops over the coming weeks don't be caught out by your iPhone. According to phone recycling specialist Envirofone your iPhone can have problems when the temperature drops below 0ºC.

The severity of the problems can range from your phone being unable to detect your touch on the screen, to the battery depleting much faster. In extreme cases your phone could even turn off altogether. Not good for the digital life that we lead.

Envirofone says the problems come from the battery, and without being too technical the battery just doesn't like the cold! Whilst Apple say that their devices operate most efficiently between 0ºC and 35ºC, the phone is actually designed to shut down in extremely cold conditions.

So, how can we stop this from happening? The obvious and easiest way to stop it, is to keep your phone a little warmer. Keep it in a pocket or bag, rather than using it in the cold. In very cold weather you might just have to wait to reply to those texts or check Facebook.

Another way to help keep your phone a little warmer is to get a case for it, after all you wouldn't leave the house in this weather without a coat.

In other mobile phone news, earlier this month Unicode revealed the list of potential new emojis which could be introduced next year. The list included animals such as a kangaroo, llama and swan, a fire extinguisher and even a couple of superhero ones!
