Arson suspected as fire crews extinguish van fire in St. Austell

A case of arson is suspected after the fire service tackled a van fire in St Austell in the early hours of this morning.

Crews were called to Trevarthian Road just before 3am to find a van on fire close to a building. The blaze was extinguished by firefighters using a hosereel jet.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be arson and the police have been notified. Cornwall Council Highways Department also attended in order to clear-up a fuel spillage and broken glass that was considered a hazard to pedestrians.
