Snow falls in Devon overnight

There have been reports of snow across parts of Devon and Cornwall overnight.

It led to poor travelling conditions, particularly on the A30 around Okehampton, with reports of miles of cars at standstill.

Ben Chapman lives near Okehampton and says he was lucky to get off the A30 last night and stop at a services:

"I was sliding everywhere. When I was pulling up, I skidded for quite a while before I even entered when I was trying to slow down.

"There was a lot of black ice, it was really crazy. It was so strong, it was heavy, heavy snow."

Drivers are being urged to take care if out and about today. Devon Alert are asking people to avoid high roads and stick to main roads where possible.

A yellow weather warning for wind is also in force across parts of Devon and Cornwall, which the Met Office says could lead to travel disruption.
