Three arrested in Coventry on suspicion of fraud

West Midlands Police have arrested three people on suspicion of fraud after officers from their Traffic Unit spotted a car in Coventry suspected of being used in crime around the country yesterday (8 May).

The Mercedes AMG was spotted on London Road at around 12.15pm. Traffic officers managed to box the car in to prevent a pursuit.

A 20-year-old man and two men aged 18 were arrested from the car on suspicion of fraud and remain in police custody.

The men are suspected of defrauding an elderly woman of more than £70,000.

Chief Inspector Becky Barnsley from Roads Policing, said: “We proactively patrol the roads and motorways in our region to disrupt the criminals using them, no matter where in the country they have committed the crime.

“Keeping our roads safe and prevent criminals from using them is our priority.”
