Get to know Alex

What can we expect from your show?

"We want to get your day started with a smile on your face. You know when someone at work says “ooh you seem chirpy, did you get some last night?” You can be like “nah, I just listened to Alex & Nicola on my way in.” That’s the level."

What's your favourite thing about presenting your show?

"I can tell you my least favourite thing is the alarm clock. Favourite thing? The amazing people who ring up and share what’s happening in their lives with us."

What features will listeners hear in your show?

"Test yourself with our question at 6.20 - we say you’re Never Gonna Get It, see if you can get five out of five on our Throwback Throwdown quiz after 8am, and we’re the only breakfast show with a goat in the studio that could earn you a shoutout on the radio at 9.30 every morning!"

Describe your co-host in three words…

"Can I guess what Nicola put for me here? I reckon she’s just written ‘late’ three times. I’m gonna say chatty, fun, and probably ‘hungry’, regardless of time of day/night!"

What’s your favourite thing about East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire?

"I know you want me to say something like the view from the Humber Bridge, or walking on the beach at Fraisthorpe, or the people but... it’s Chip Spice isn’t it. That or Ronnie Pickering!"

So far, what’s been one of your most memorable on-air moments?

"Teaching Sean Paul the Hull accent is definitely up there."

Aside from waking up Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire each morning, what do you get up to?

"You’ll find me at Hull New Theatre if there’s ever a musical on, I keep saying I’ll write my own… one day!"

What is your go-to track to listen to in the car?

"Anything I can sing along to."

What's your ultimate throwback song?

"N-Trance Set You Free! It’s a proper banger that takes me back to the end of the night when it would be the DJ’s last song, and then they turned the lights on."

Get to know Nicola

What's your favourite thing about presenting your show?

"You know when you can’t stop laughing and start crying? That happens every morning and nothing beats doing it with listeners!"

So far, what’s been one of your most memorable on-air moments?

"Too many to mention, but Alex thinking he could outrun me while I was on our branded double decker bus is a particular highlight!

He HATES losing, and I’ll never forget the look on his face as we drove past Hull New Theatre – his little legs weren’t as fast as he thought they were (sorry, Alex!)."

What’s your favourite thing about East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire?

"The accent, especially if you’re ordering a dry white wine! Timothy Chalamet says it’s the best in UK– who can argue with that?"

Describe Alex in three words…

"Musical, chilled, and LATE!"

Aside from waking up East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire each morning, what do you get up to?

"I never pass up on a gig or a good restaurant! It’s important to balance the rockstar life out though, so I also love to indulge in a History documentary – proud geek!"

What is your go-to track to listen to in the car?

"Anything by The Killers, but I’m also a sucker for a Garage/R&B throwback! I know all the words to Usher’s ‘Confessions” and I’m happy to prove it!"

What do the biggest hits sound like to you?

"The earworms that instantly have you looking up the music video! Ariana Grande knew what she was doing with ‘Yes, and?’!"

Which song is ultimate throwback song?

"Daniel Beddingfield – Gotta Get Thru This because it only ever gets better!"
