Searches for abdominal surgery in Scunthorpe surged by 400% since Kate Middleton's diagnosis

There’s been a 400% rise in people from Scunthorpe searching for information on Abdominal surgery.

That's the operation in which Kate Middleton's cancer was found.

Devonshire Clinic who have conducted the research say more people are becoming aware of the disease.

Other areas include:

Hull: 125% rise in searches for 'Abdominal Surgery' from February to March.

Grimsby/Cleethorpes: 300% rise in searches for 'Abdominal Surgery' from February to March.

Lincoln: 180% rise in searches for 'Abdominal Surgery' from February to March.

Dr Conal Perrett, from The Devonshire Clinic, said:

“When Kate Middleton made the announcement about her cancer diagnosis last month, she played a crucial part in saving lives.

"By sharing her experience, she shed light on the realities of battling cancer, and inspired others to search for the signs, seek help, and look for support.

“In speaking out, Kate become a person to look up to for those facing similar challenges, to know that they’re not alone.

“As we can see in the research, speaking publicly has led to others searching for signs of cancer, increasing awareness, and ultimately saving lives.”
