Canadian pop-punk star Avril Lavigne has given her millions of fans an update against her battle with Lyme Disease.

The 30-year-old first revealed she had the serious bacterial infection back in April and two months later broke down live on television when talking about her illness on Good Morning America.

Still undergoing treatment, yesterday Avril shared a photo of 12 vials of blood on Instagram along with the caption: "On my way to good health #TakingCareOfMyself #F***LymeDisease."

Posting a second photo of herself sitting on a doctor’s bed, Avril added: “This journey continues ..... Just reach up, don't give up until you've touch the sky ..... We were all meant to fly .... #DrOfficePhotoShoot.”

Speaking on Good Morning America a tearful Avril said it took months to get diagnosed: "They would pull up their computer and be like, 'Chronic fatigue syndrome'. Or, 'Why don't you try to get out of bed, Avril, and just go play the piano?' It's like, 'Are you depressed?'”

“I started going to other doctors and specifically telling them, and asking: ‘I have Lyme Disease. I know I do. Can you check me?’ Then I finally figured out, ‘Find a Lyme specialist.’ The thing is, when you’re a specialist, you also really know the disease inside and out and you can diagnose their symptoms.”

She added: “There is hope. Lyme disease does exist. And you can get better. I’m halfway through my treatment now. This is my second shot at life. I really just want to go out there and truly do what I love. So I’m excited for life after this.”

Earlier this month Avril and Nickelback rocker Chad Kroeger announced they were separating after two years of marriage.

Get well soon, Avril.
