Cheryl joined The Greatest Dancer as a 'captain' alongside Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison and was met by an undecided audience, who claimed that her dance background wasn't strong enough for the role.

But despite the criticism, the show's host Jordan Banjo has defended the star and claimed she proved the naysayers wrong when she performed alongside the Strictly Come Dancing professionals.

The Diversity star admitted, "I wasn't shocked at Cheryl being a dance captain, and I wasn't shocked at the reaction, because of the achievements of what she's done, but I was always worried it would happen.

"I said before, don't let how amazing she is as a performer and as a singer and as you know her before, overshadow the fact that she has a wealth of experience in dance.

"She's grown up around it, she goes all around the world performing and dancing, last week throughout the opening numbers, Cheryl's a terrific dancer."

The former Britain's Got Talent winner also went on to explain that her performance alongside the Strictly dancers was a test to prove her skill and experience as a dancer to the nation.

He continued, "If anything was a test, it's 'right we're going to put you in with all the Strictly dancers,' you've got a group of world class dancers and put Cheryl in it, if being part of that doesn't prove everyone wrong than nothing will".

Since joining the show, it's been claimed Cheryl has lost a staggering 24.5k Instagram followers, which is on average 510 per day.

However the former Girls Aloud star still boasts 6.1million loyal fans on her follow list, so it doesn't look like she has anything to worry about!
