David Beckham has hit back at the people who criticised his eldest son, Brooklyn.

The 16-year-old found himself under some harsh criticism earlier in the year after landing a dream photography job with fashion giants Burberry, shooting their latest campaign.

Rival photographers slammed the decision as 'nepotism', claiming the teenager only landed the role because of his famous family.

Now, proud dad David has hit back in an interview with GQ magazine saying "Brooklyn is 16 coming on 17, we know he's going to make mistakes, and we know he will have opportunities because of us. But he's making opportunities for himself too."

The ex-footballer then went on to say "Whether people believe it or not, he's got talent. He's got a great eye and proven that in the images he has taken."

Brooklyn is a keen photographer and showcases his work frequently to his 6.4 million Instagram followers.

David, who has a close relationship with his son, claimed he is not concerned about any criticism aimed at himself, saying "Some things get said and then you just laugh about it. I work hard for my money, I'm not going to give it away on legal fees all the time."

The 40-year-old has three other children with wife Victoria, 13-year-old Romeo, 11-year-old Cruz and 4-year-old Harper Seven.
