He met families as part of his work with Unicef

David Beckham has spoken about how difficult it was to meet African children with HIV, especially as some were the same age as his own kids.

Beckham was pictured visiting a drought-hit area of Swaziland in South Africa as part of his charity work with Unicef. The region has faced a reduction in water sources, ruined harvests and has seen one of the most powerful weather events in 50 years.

According to the charity, the current crises have put 26 million children in East and South Africa at risk of ‘life-threatening hunger’.

In January David was presented with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Leadership Award at the Unicef ball in Los Angeles.
