The 'Thinking Out Loud' singer tweeted this announcement to his 14.7 million followers earlier today saying "New song dropping at 5pm today UK time", followed by "Oh and it's free" and finally "It's a new collaboration and you think you've guessed it but you haven't innit. 5pm GMT".
This announcement sent his fans into a frenzy as they responded to the tweet debating who the collaboration could be with, mentioning everyone from Lady Gaga to Taylor Swift, Zayn Malik and The Weeknd.
Although the song is expected to be released at 5pm 'UK time'. There is a little bit of confusion as Ed initially states 5pm UK time (British Summer Time) but then mentions GMT in final tweet.
Ed Sheeran recently performed three sell out gigs at Croke Park, Dublin where he also helped his friend Jay Boland from Kodaline propose.
