Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden has revealed he will shave off his hair and eyebrows for his shocking new storyline on the soap.

Warning: Spoiler alert

The popular actor appeared on ITV’s Lorraine where he spoke about the new storyline for his character, David Metcalfe. He said “I’m about to shave my head and lose my eyebrows, eyelashes – everything. I’ve always had facial hair so it will be a first for me.”

He went on to talk about the new storyline adding “As soon as I heard about the storyline I said I would just throw myself into it in every way to do it justice for the lads that have been through it.”

In next week’s Emmerdale, David’s aggressive testicular cancer diagnosis will commence where he also learns the bad news that the disease has spread.

Matthew also opened up about how the upcoming storyline has affected his family. The 35-year-old is married to his fellow co-star Charley Webb and has two sons, six-year-old Buster and new born, Bowie Grey.

The actor explained his six-year-old and wife Charley burst into tears when he told them about shaving his hair off for the role. He said “One of the hardest things has been explaining what will happen to Buster. I wanted to explain to him that I would be losing my hair and that daddy was going to look different for a while.”

You can watch Matthew's storyline unfold on Emmerdale on ITV at 7pm weekdays.
