In April this year former The Only Way Is Essex star, Ferne McCann, announced she was pregnant with her first child. However the news was overshadowed by the arrest of her boyfriend at the time, Arthur Collins, who was arrested on suspicion of an acid attack in a nightclub in London.

The reality star revealed the news to fans before the 'safe' 12 week stage and asked for privacy during the stressful time.

Earlier this week Arthur was found guilty of the attack and is currently awaiting his sentencing which is due to take place on December 19.

Ferne has now broken her silence on the verdict and has released a statement via her agent.

The statement, which was released to Mail Online, reads:

'Ferne's thoughts are of course with the innocent people caught up in the events at Mangle last April. No one should ever be faced with violence on a night out.

'Having given birth days ago, Ferne is focusing on being the best mother she can be. She long ago accepted that she would be doing this alone and is determined to provide the best possible future for her daughter.'

In more positive news, the former I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here star welcomed her baby girl into the world earlier this month.

Revealing her daughter arrived early, Ferne wrote, 'Wellcome to the world my darling. Didn’t expect to see you a week early 🙂. I’m so in love & bursting with pride. It’s a girl 👶🏼💗💗💗' sic

Just a few days later, Ferne then delighted her fans by sharing another photo of her daughter and revealed her name to be Sunday.

Sharing a photo of herself kissing her newborn, Ferne wrote, 'I thought today would be the perfect day to tell you all her name...meet Sunday 💗💗💗'.

So cute!

It’s thought that Ferne chose the name Sunday so that she could shorten the name to Sunny.
