It had been heavily rumoured that Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall was about to land her first ever movie gig, playing the role of Princess Jasmine in Guy Ritchie's live-action remake of Disney classic Aladdin.

However, over the weekend the cast of the upcoming movie was revealed, with Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott landing the leading role alongside Will Smith (The Genie) and Mena Massoud (Aladdin).

After the announcement was made, Little Mix singer Jade seemingly responded to the 'snub' by sharing a very sassy post to her Instagram page.

Sharing a photo of herself holding a gun with the words 'over it' on, Jade let her facial expressions sum up her mood...

Of course Little Mix fans were quick to defend their 'queen'. One user wrote, 'You're our Jasmine ❤️❤️❤️', with another adding, 'You deserved to be Jasmine 😩😭😭😭😭'.

It had been reported earlier in the year that the 'Wings' singer had been in talks with bosses to play Princess Jasmine, despite having no previous acting experience.

A source told a national newspaper, "Jasmine is Jade’s perfect role, so she’s delighted to have got this far in the process. The talks have been going on for some time now."

They later added, “And the longer they go on, the better her chances are looking. All of the girls have their fingers crossed for her, as they always support each other."

Although Jade never publicly mentioned the rumours, the singer is a massive fan of Disney and often posts Disney themed snaps to her Instagram account.

With Jade not landing the role it does mean she can focus all of her attention on Little Mix!

Jade, along with Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are currently touring the UK on their 'Summer Shout Out Tour'.

In October the girls are set to start their fourth arena tour, 'The Glory Days Tour' at dates across the country. They are scheduled to play Aberdeen, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Glasgow, Manchester and London before moving onto Europe and the rest of the world.
