Pop sensation Katy Perry joined us on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show to talk about her incredible Las Vegas residency, including how she balances the show with motherhood, and what she thinks of Adele's Las Vegas residency.

Katy started her Las Vegas residency on 29th December 2021, and the show is set to run until 19th March 2022. Titled Play, the show sees Katy as a doll performing on a huge, upscaled set. She described the show saying: "It's pretty wild, it's the craziest show I've ever put together".

Katy talked about putting on such a crazy performance: "I guess we're making people smile, especially when you pop out of a 30ft toilet. It's pretty funny, it's very irreverent I would say. I like to be a little bit more self-deprecating, maybe even more than my peers, because life is short, so why not laugh about it."

She went on to talk about the theme of the show: "I play a doll in this show, and everything on stage, the props are larger than life, they're three times my size. Theres a giant, healthy fibrous looking poo dancing next to me and we’re singing 'California Gurls'. Who knows what stupid thing I'll think of next?"

Fleur East asked about the possibility of her unbelievable show coming to the UK, and Katy explained: "As all the props were being carted over in pieces, I was like, 'can we fit this into any semi trucks?' and everyone's like 'no'. So, this toilet will not travel, and that's why you have to come to Vegas."

Katy also shared her excitement for LA neighbour Adele's own Las Vegas Residency: "I'm looking in my schedule, looking for my day off where I'm going to drink my Sauvignon Blanc, or my Sancerre and cry.

"I'm just excited to actually go to the show and see it". Katy added: "She's going to be at the stage Celine was at forever, and you know if anyone can fill those shoes, it's her."

Watch Katy Perry talk about Adele:

The 'When I'm Gone' singer also opened up about juggling her career and motherhood. Katy and her husband Orlando Bloom welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove in August 2020, and she explained: "The thing about having a Vegas show and living in LA, you can just fly in and out. So that means I get to take her to pre-school, and then I get to see her in the morning, because everyone tells me it goes by so quickly.

"I've gotten the opportunity to check off so many things in my life, and now I get to keep performing while simultaneously being a proud mother, and that makes me feel very whole."
