One Direction fans have been awaiting their reunion with bated breath ever since they announced their hiatus in 2015 - but Louis Tomlinson made his feelings very clear on the matter during Saturday night's episode of The X Factor (20th Oct).

As he was prepping contestant Brendan Murray for his very first live show of the series, the former X Factor graduate looked back at his time in One Direction and admitted he was looking forward rather than back.

Speaking to Brendan about his time in boyband Hometown, which was managed by Louis Walsh, Louis said, "I get it, I used to be in a band, you want to move on from it."

One Directioners were devastated by the 'Back To You' hitmaker's comment, taking to Twitter to admit just how hurt they were.

A fan tweeted a meme of Niall Horan looking sad and wrote, 'When Louis said he was in a band and wants to move on from it.'

Another followed up with, 'Louis Tomlinson: 'I get it, I was in a band. You know, you just want to move on from it.' Me: 😢😢' sic

One fan seemed angered by Louis' comments, writing, 'IM ACTUALLY MAD RN.' sic

Despite the star's comment, his Twitter bio reads that he's "1/4 of One Direction" - so fans urged him to change it after what he said on the show.
