Superstar singer Taylor Swift has revealed her mum Andrea has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, whilst undergoing chemotherapy for cancer last year.

Taylor bravely opened up about her mum's devastating diagnosis during an emotional chat with Variety to promote her brand new Netflix documentary Miss Americana.

Speaking to the publication, the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer said, "While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumour.

"And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumour is nothing like what we've ever been through with her cancer before. So it's just been a really hard time for us as a family."

Andrea was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015, but despite going into remission following treatment, the disease returned last year.

In light of her mum's diagnosis, Taylor made the decision to do a festival tour with her album 'Lover', instead of the usual year-long World Tour we've come to expect from the singer.

Admitting it's been tough to speak about her mum's diagnosis, Taylor told Variety, "Everyone loves their mom; everyone's got an important mom. But for me, she's really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness."

Taylor is expected to speak more about the tough times in her personal life in her brand new Netflix documentary Miss Americana, which will be available to watch on the streaming site on Friday 31st January.

Wish wish Taylor's mum Andrea a speedy recovery. ❤️
