Wentworth Miller posts emotional response to cruel body-shaming meme
The star opens up about his childhood
After falling victim to a cruel internet meme, Prison Break star Wentworth Miller has hit back in a heartfelt post, opening up about his suicidal past.
The meme, which has since been deleted, shamed Wentworth’s body image and unsurprisingly the actor didn’t take kindly to the criticism.
The 43-year-old took to Facebook to open up about his past struggles, admitting the reason he took a break from acting back in 2010. Wentworth said the harsh meme ‘stands out from the rest’ before going on to explain he was ‘suicidal'.
The Prison Break actor said “I’ve struggled with depression since childhood. It’s a battle that’s cost me time, opportunities, relationships, and a thousand sleepless nights.”
In the shocking confession, Wentworth said he considered himself as ‘damaged goods’ and the voices in his head urged him to go down ‘the path to self-destruction’.

The actor went on to describe the moment the cruel meme appeared in his news feed, saying “I have to admit, it hurt to breathe. But as with everything in life, I get to assign meaning. And the meaning I assign to this/my image is Strength. Healing. Forgiveness.
The LAD Bible, who posted the meme have since apologised to the actor, posting a status to their 11 million Facebook followers saying ‘Mental health is no joke or laughing matter’.

Wentworth is currently filming the highly anticipated new series of Prison Break with co-star Dominic Purcell.
The popular show last aired in 2009, in which Wentworth’s character Michael Scofield died in the series finale, but in a shock twist it appears the fan favourite is still alive and in a prison in Yemen.
Many of the cast have shared their excitement whilst filming for the new series.
The nine-episode series is set to begin later this year.
