According to the American Civil Liberties Union 'My Love' by Westlife was played by the CIA as an act of torture.

The song was played interspersed with other music to Suleiman Abdullah a newly wed fisherman who was captured by a Somali warlord in 2003.

Suleiman was handed over to the CIA where he was made to listen to the music at a high volume. It is believed that the song 'My Love' was chosen as it was meant to be love song especially for him to remind him of his new wife.

The ACLU report reads, "the music pounded constantly as part of a scheme to assault prisoners’ senses. It stopped only when a CD skipped or needed changing."

For more than a month Suleiman was allegedly tortured using a number of techniques, he was released in 2008 when it was believed he was no longer a danger to the US.

'My Love' was a big hit for the Irish boyband reaching number one in the UK and Ireland.
